PORTLAND, OR - Following successful runs in New York City and Los Angeles, the multi-talented Siouxsie Q is heading to Portland next month to perform her critically acclaimed mermaid musical, Fish Girl. The upcoming production hits the stage as part of the Come Inside Festival that runs from October 4-7, 2018.

“I've been working on this play throughout my entire career in the adult industry, the first songs came to me nearly the same week I first had sex for money,” explains Siouxsie Q. “While the songs and the story have stayed essentially the same, the nuances of the work has grown by leaps and bounds as my career and my relationship to the sex industry has evolved.”

Described by as “on the cutting edge of fantasy,” “Fish Girl” is the poignant and entertaining story of an enchanted mermaid plucked from the sea and doomed to sing for her supper. This unconventional fairy tale sings the story of a lovestruck tourist who falls into the deep end when he meets the “girl” of his dreams. The original production is a fully-realized dream on stage created by Siouxsie Q and Sean Andries. Written and performed from the perspective of a sex worker and the one who loves her, “Fish Girl” serves as an allegory for our current state of affairs and exposes the deeply personal stakes of sexual politics.

“We workshopped and premiered the show at Portland's Fertile Grounds Festival in 2012, and we are so pleased to bring this re-vamped version back to where it was born,” explains Q. “Additionally, we have been blessed with the opportunity to collaborate with my longtime friend, Penthouse Pet, and fellow member of the APAC Board of Directors, Olive Glass, who has released a brand new set of illustrations that will be premiered on an antique slide projector as part of the show.”

“Fish Girl” received the “Best of The Fest” Award at the 2013 San Francisco Fringe and hailed praise from outlets like the San Francisco Chronicle and SF Weekly. The show will be held at the Coho Theater on from October 4-7. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased at this link:

Siouxsie Q Heads to the Stage to Appear in Her One-Act Musical “Fish Girl”

Scheduled for a special one night engagement at the MOments Playhouse in Los Angeles, the multi-talented Siouxsie Q brings her original one-act musical, Fish Girl, to the stage with her collaborator (and co-star), Sean Andries.

Los Angeles, CA - Multi-talented writer, activist, and adult performer Siouxsie Q will perform her original one-act musical, Fish Girl, this Friday as part of a special one night engagement at the MOments Playhouse in Los Angeles, CA. The play is a culmination of a five year long-distance collaboration between creators Siouxsie Q and Sean Andries and originally premiered at the San Francisco Fringe Festival in 2013.

"When we were given the opportunity to bring the story of Fish Girl to LA, we jumped at the chance,” said Siouxsie Q. “This play is my heart and we are excited to bring it to a select private audience for one night only. There will be key collaborators in the audience, along with a talk back, as we hope to lay the groundwork for another run in the near future. Sean and I have both changed and grown since the play's inception, and we are excited to discover how that will affect the show.”

A fairy tale exploring themes of sex work through the lens of fantasy, Fish Girl weaves together the tale of a love struck tourist (Sean Andries) who falls into the deep end when he meets the "girl" of his dreams (Siouxsie Q).  She’s half fish, half girl, half real, half dream, half in this world, half out--a fish and a bird can fall in love, but where can they build their nest?

Fish Girl includes original songs written and performed by Siouxsie Q, as well as shadow play, physical comedy, antique slide projections, and high drama. It provides an entertaining and heartfelt look into the hopes, dreams, and fears of sex worker and the one who loves her.  Doors open at 7:30 pm, with the show starting at 8 pm. The event is free and open to the public. View the official Facebook Event Page here.
